Play the Brain Architecture Game for the Week of the Young Child
Our Neighborhood is coming together with the Central Virginia AEYC, our local NAEYC affiliate to connect and celebrate through playing The Brain Architecture Game together for the Week of the Young Child. The Brain Architecture Game was developed by the Harvard University Center on the Developing Child as an effective and engaging way to introduce the science of early brain development.
Parent or Early Education Consultation
Our Neighborhood is now offering more parenting support! Read more about the Our Neighborhood model on the Our Neighborhood Community website. Keep track of what's new at Our Neighborhood and connect with resources on the our facebook wall.
We are here to support parents as they find rewarding ways to help their young children sleep, eat, learn, grow, and make good choices. We occasionally offer parenting classes to help families learn how to move away from extrinsically motivating children through rewards and punishments and toward a value based model of discipline that supports children to be intrinsically motivated. Email the director for more information and to discuss consultation options.
Our Neighborhood team members speak locally and nationally on early education, best practices, self-directed learning, emergent curriculum, quality care zero-to-three, the problem with praise, moving away from the reward punishment model, supporting teachers and families, and other topics. If you are interested in having our support and consultation with your program, reach out via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are excited to work with our community to develop the best possible child care environment. If you would like to partner with us please email our director at email@example.com.
